We come to our last post in this series addressing the health of the church. With that, we come to the individual members. Without healthy members, a church cannot be healthy. We are dealing with members of the church, and here we will briefly discuss the role the member plays in the church’s health.
Our church, upon reception to membership, asks all members to maintain a covenant. There are four statements that provide the structure of our roles.
1. I will protect the unity of my church.
2. I will share the responsibility of my church.
3. I will serve the ministry of my church.
4. I will support the testimony of my church.
These are the commitments we make to one another in this church. They outline the general understanding of what it means to be a member of a church, and specifically Warrior Creek Baptist Church.
Are we a healthy church? As we ask that question, we must follow it with another question, “Am I a healthy church member?” Use these four commitments to examine your own heart. The Lord will bring your attention to areas that need to be addressed. Enjoy the benefits, child of God, of 1 John 1:9, restore your fellowship with the gracious Father and with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
